Items not allowed in Dumpsters:
Adhesives
Glues or adhesives are generally toxic and make materials stick to the inside of the dumpster causing “dig out fees”.
Asbestos
Asbestos is a carcinogenic material embedded into ceilings, roofing, and flooring in structures built prior to the 1970’s. Licensed professionals are required for any asbestos abatement because it poses a serious health risk.
Batteries
Batteries contain toxic and corrosive materials that pose serious health risks. They must be separated from regular waste and recycled properly.
Cleaning Products
Most cleaning products are liquid based and liquids are not allowed in roll off dumpsters. Liquids make materials stick to the inside of the container and cause “dig out fees”. Some cleaning products contain hazardous chemicals that are not allowed in dumpsters.
Contaminated Soil
Any dirt that has come into contact with toxic materials will need to be put through a hazardous waste processor and cannot be placed into the dumpster.
Food Waste
Roll off dumpster rentals are not intended for food waste and can attract rodents. Consider disposing of your food waste through your regular weekly trash pickup.
Fuels
Due to risk of fire, any flammable liquids are forbidden at landfills and transfer stations.
Liquids
Roll off dumpsters are not water tight. If liquids are dumped into the container they might spill onto the pavement causing a big mess. Any liquids that remain could cause materials to stick to the inside of the dumpster and would be subject to “dig out fees”.
Motor Oils
Motor oils are generally petroleum based and are considered to be toxic. Toxic liquids are not allowed in roll off dumpsters.
Paints
Paints and stains contain harmful ingredients and are known to be hazardous. They can also discolor and damage dumpsters.
Propane Tanks
Propane and other fuel tanks pose a huge risk to landfill personnel if dumped with regular garbage. When dumped, pressurized tanks can be ran over by heavy machinery and explode causing injury or death.
Refrigerants
Containers and appliances that are filled with toxic refrigerants are subject to special regulations. If you want to throw a Freon appliance in your dumpster please contact us and make sure its safe to do so.
Tires
Tires cannot be disposed with regular trash and need to be recycled. In some situations, tires can be thrown into dumpsters for an extra fee. Please contact us for fees regarding tires.
